I started my career in marketing, took what looked like a hard left turn into speech-language pathology, and then, in what I can only describe as a very ‘on-brand for Lucy’ move, accidentally built a jewelry business that turned into a second career helping other business owners figure out why their marketing isn't working.
It turns out all of it was related. It just took me a while to see it.
where it started
As a speech-language pathologist, I assess how very young children communicate before they have reliable speech. One of the things I always told parents: spoken speech isn't for the speaker. The child knows exactly what they want. But the listener is trained to hear words… and when there are no words, the message gets lost. Not because the child isn't communicating, but bcause nobody taught the adult to listen differently.
That disconnect is exactly what I look for in a business.
I spent years doing early intervention evaluations:
Most companies know what they do. They know why it's valuable. But somewhere between what they mean and what their market actually hears, something gets lost … and they've probably been calling it a marketing problem. Most of the time, it isn't. It's a communication problem. And that's a different diagnosis, with a different fix.
That's what I do. I find where the signal is breaking down, and I help you rebuild it.
